A community built around jazz.

Founded in 2025, the Northland Big Band is a premier large jazz ensemble “North of the River” in the Kansas City Metro.

The group is dedicated to performing, preserving, and promoting jazz music for audiences of all ages through live concerts, educational partnerships, and community outreach.

The band has collaborated with Platte City Friends of the Arts, Mid-Continent Public Library, Liberty Public Schools, and Park Hill School District.

Vision

To activate, cultivate, and elevate a vibrant and inclusive jazz movement enriching Clay and Platte County communities of the Kansas City Metro, influencing surrounding areas, and inspiring the broader musical world.
